U.S. Army Recruit Challenge Coin

army_recruit-300x300 U.S. Army Recruit Challenge CoinFootsteps throughout one’s service can in some cases be tracked through the challenge coins they have received from the places and people that have met. Recently the Army recruiters have added a new weapon in the arsenal to highlight the entrance into service for those that volunteer for the Army. In Florida the recruiting stations are issuing a new challenge coin to those entering service to signify the commitment they have given in becoming Army Strong!

This challenge coin comes in at 1.5” in size and encases it’s meaning in a brass minting of the Army core values with a silloutte of a soldier appearing on one side. The coin took on sandblasting to give it that rustic look that a soldier is accustomed to. This little coin packs a lot of meaning and is the first coin a recruit will ever hold in his hands. There is no doubt this coin will go Army wide and become a staple in the traditions of the Army in giving their soldiers something to remember.

As a collector this coin is a value because of it’s limited first run and the likelyhood of finding it out in lots when soldiers retire or separate is years down the road. The first mint alone yeilded 50 coins only and is now going into another minimal run of 100 copies. Something that symbolizes the initial steps into service has a great value considering the minimal mint of the initial release.
