3D U.S. Cavalry Challenge Coin

Saturday, October 11th, 2008

army_3d_cav-150x150 3D U.S. Cavalry Challenge CoinWell Cavalry coins seem to be the rage of today’s collector’s that are developing their collections in this specific niche of challenge coins. This 3D Cavalry coin is nothing short of a wonderful coin. The Packhorse wanted something strong yet traditional in their coin and they called upon U.S. Challenge Coins to make them something that fit the bill. This great 1.75” coin is die struck in a brass finish that lends the traditional feel many collector’s love. They avoided the mistake of encasing the coin in epoxy, which would have removed the feel of the coin’s 3D.

The 3D was performing their duties in OIF when they decided to bring in a new coin to award to the soldiers that deserve it. Those soldiers will walk away with a treasure no doubt. This coin is perfect in the sense that it has style of yesteryear with the blend of color that we have come to expect in the 21st century. If you are looking for a coin for your collection from the men and women of the “Regiment of Mounted Riflemen” then check out this coin!

Collecting Challenge Coins

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

In many cases people collect challenge coins because it reminds them of something they were once part of or something they wished they could have achieved. It’s a special thing that many are starting to open their eyes and see the world around them. I have found it to allow me to touch some of the very best people i have ever met in my life. Challenge coins give you an opportunity to reach across the internet and met someone who once served in the Army before you and talk about the current coins of the day. Of course talking about the current coins of the day does allow you to go above that with war stories or just reminiscing about the past. (more…)

U.S. Army Recruit Challenge Coin

army_recruit-300x300 U.S. Army Recruit Challenge CoinFootsteps throughout one’s service can in some cases be tracked through the challenge coins they have received from the places and people that have met. Recently the Army recruiters have added a new weapon in the arsenal to highlight the entrance into service for those that volunteer for the Army. In Florida the recruiting stations are issuing a new challenge coin to those entering service to signify the commitment they have given in becoming Army Strong!

This challenge coin comes in at 1.5” in size and encases it’s meaning in a brass minting of the Army core values with a silloutte of a soldier appearing on one side. The coin took on sandblasting to give it that rustic look that a soldier is accustomed to. This little coin packs a lot of meaning and is the first coin a recruit will ever hold in his hands. There is no doubt this coin will go Army wide and become a staple in the traditions of the Army in giving their soldiers something to remember.
